My first time in Vietnam brought me to Saigon—now officially known as Ho Chi Minh City—and it quickly became one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had behind the camera. What made it even more meaningful was sharing this journey with our wonderful couple, Troy and Queenie, whose love story unfolded beautifully against the vibrant, ever-moving backdrop of the city.
Months before their pre-wedding photoshoot, I remember dreaming about Vietnam. In that dream, I saw tiny cafรฉs stacked inside an old building—intimate spaces filled with character, quiet conversations, and windows overlooking busy streets below.
At the time, it felt distant—just a fleeting image. But somehow, that dream became a prelude to reality. Soon enough, we were planning our trip, and before long, we found ourselves walking the very streets I had once only imagined.
Saigon welcomed us with its unmistakable energy. The city was alive—motorbikes flowing like rivers through traffic, horns echoing between buildings, and the warm air filled with the aroma of street food and Vietnamese coffee.
It was chaotic in the most beautiful way.
For a photographer, Ho Chi Minh City is a dream location. Every corner tells a story. Every street offers texture, light, and authenticity. Photographing here felt less like directing a shoot and more like stepping into a living, breathing narrative.
Most of our portraits were taken early in the morning, long before the city fully woke up. We would rise before sunrise, chasing soft, natural light while the streets were still calm and quiet.
Dawn in Saigon felt like the beginning of a new chapter each day—peaceful, hopeful, and full of possibility.
With Queenie and Troy in the frame, even the simplest streets became meaningful. Their connection mirrored the spirit of Vietnam itself—colorful, warm, and full of life.
Instead of following a strict plan, we allowed the city to guide us.
We wandered through random streets, explored hidden alleys, and discovered charming cafรฉs tucked inside old buildings. Some of the best pre-wedding photos didn’t come from famous landmarks, but from everyday places—sidewalks, cafรฉ windows, and quiet corners where life naturally unfolded.
These unscripted moments created images that felt genuine and timeless.
Travel has a unique way of revealing the truth about relationships.
Just like exploring a new city, love requires patience, flexibility, and a sense of adventure. Throughout the shoot, we laughed, adapted, and embraced the unpredictability of the streets.
It never felt like work—it felt like an experience shared among friends.
Troy and Queenie moved through the city the way travelers do: curious, open, and fully present. And that made every photograph even more meaningful.
On our final day, we ended the experience with an evening city tour on a hop-on hop-off bus. As we made our way through the city, heavy rain began to fall.
But instead of stopping, we embraced it.
The rain transformed Saigon into something cinematic—neon lights reflecting across wet streets, colors glowing brighter, and the skyline softened by falling droplets.
Queenie and Troy stood together, completely unfazed, smiling through the storm. In that moment, it felt like the entire city was celebrating with them.
Vietnam offers a unique blend of energy and intimacy that makes it an incredible destination for pre-wedding shoots. From bustling streets to quiet cafรฉs, every location adds depth and authenticity to a couple’s story.
For Troy and Queenie, this wasn’t just a photoshoot—it became part of their journey together.
Travel reminds us that while every journey is temporary, the memories we create last forever.
In many ways, relationships are like exploring a new place. There are unexpected turns, unfamiliar paths, and moments of uncertainty. But when two people choose to walk side by side—through quiet mornings, crowded streets, and even sudden storms—every step becomes meaningful.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of Troy and Queenie’s story: choosing each other again and again, embracing both the journey and the unknown, and finding joy in simply walking through life together.
