Shan and Fibi love long walks. Since they met ten years ago, they found their stride in walking beside each other and just talking about life.
"Kahit gaano kalayo, okay lang," Fibi enthuses. By walking, they are able to slow down time, and be present for each other.
Ten years in a relationship is no simple feat. For Fibi and Shan, it took them communication, patience, and, loyalty to ride through years of a long distance relationship. One can say, their relationship has been one long walk itself.
Shan, a seafarer, and Fibi, a virtual assistant and entrepreneur, keep their lines of communication open. "Love is patient," Fibi reflects. "We aren’t always going to agree. Testing each other’s patience and still coming home to love, kindness, and respect is a feeling I never want to disappear."
In our pre-wedding shoot with Fibi and Shan, we went by their wish to have a simple photo shoot. We took them through three locations around Gensan: first in Jacob Breadnuts, second in Tambler, and third in the TWE studio.
They admit to being nerve-wracked at first, but they gradually became at ease in front of the camera. They teased each other; cuddled each other; face the same direction; looked at each other intensely. They balanced each other. They are not only lovers but soulmates, or perhaps, more apt, "solemates" as they keep walking together on a new road towards a happy and fulfilling married life.
