Jai | A Black & White Indoor Maternity Session { General Santos City }

I begin to love this little creature, and to anticipate his birth as a fresh twist to a knot which I do not wish to untie. I must tell you that I love you better than I supposed I did, when I promised to love you forever. I feel it thrilling through my frame, giving and promising pleasure. —Mary Wollstonecraft

If there’s one technique in photography that I am so fascinated with, it is the use of black and white. When we see things in black and white, we see things differently. Images tend to be more dramatic , it gives a stronger emotional connection to the subject. It gives the images a more timeless and classic quality.

When Jai wanted a Black and White concept for her maternity session, I never had reservations about it. It felt so liberating to explore one of the most loved techniques in photography. Just as the beauty of pregnancy, I think there are no other quantitative explanations why the use of black and white is very relevant.

Here's one of my fave maternity sessions to date.

Our Tiny Miracle

At first you moved,
only a little.

I could always find you,
right in the middle.

Tiny movements like tiny kicks
Tiny baby, a mother's bliss

Can't wait to give the tiny you
Huge hugs and lots of huge kisses too.

Womb of the mother
In which resides the hope of the world

True paradigm of
Love
Joy
Sacrifice
Hope

 Bulging belly extends
Like the hand of God
Pushing
Stretching
Showing all of us the miracle of life.

We cannot wait to see you, our little angel

The new parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles
are all filled with joy and excitement

at the thought of welcoming
the newest member of their family to the world.

The first little smile,

the first tears shed,

and the first baby laugh

will surely capture our hearts
and create the most beautiful

and unforgettable memories for us all.
